HOW TO MAKE A DAGUERREOTYPE
1. The corners of the silverplated cupperplate
are clipped and the edges are slightly turned down. The plate was held in a wooden   block  and was polished with finest rottenstone with a square of Canton flannel.
2. The plate was polished with a curved hand bufff.
3. The conical buff wheel allowed the use of  a whole skin.
4. In the dark room the plate was sensitizied
with bromine and  iodine.

6. The plate was exposed..
7. Now the plate was developed  with mercury fumes.
8. The plate was fixed with a solution of
hyposulphite of soda and thoroughly washed.
9. The plate was gilded with a weak solution
of chloride of gold, washed and finnally dried
over a spirit lamp.
Warning:
The daguerreotype process requires the use of dangerous chemicals.
